"I'm a Lady" is a song recorded by American singer-songwriter Meghan Trainor to promote the film Smurfs: The Lost Village (2017).[1] Epic Records released it as a single on February 24, 2017.[2] Trainor co-wrote and co-produced the song with Martin René, and additional production from the Monsters and the Strangerz.[3] "I'm a Lady" is a pop song that has a positive message and a campy spoken interlude.

Hannah Lux Davis directed the music video, which was released on March 3, 2017. Trainor has performed "I'm a Lady" live on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Background

Trainor announced the song at the 2016 KIIS-FM Jingle Ball, saying "It's an upbeat, 'love yourself' woman anthem. It goes like...'Cause I'm a lady...and then the BEAT DROPS!' It's pretty fire."[4] Prior to "I'm a Lady"'s release, Trainor teased the song and the music video on her social media accounts.[5] She announced the release date on February 21, 2017.[5]
